My name is Matthew Makepeace, the owner & founder of Makepeace Web Design, my solo web studio based in Toronto, Canada. I started my business by doing freelance projects on the side, and decided to push for growth for my business. What began as a way to take on extra work became a full business built around one idea: small businesses deserve a website and management that actually works for them. Today, MPWD offers web design, e-commerce builds, logo and branding, and ongoing web management — with one person who handles it all and knows your site inside and out.
Growing up with autism, I learned early that my brain worked differently — and eventually, that was a good thing. I was obsessed with video games and puzzles, always looking for patterns, always trying to figure out how things fit together. That led me to study Game Programming in college, where I got my first real taste of how design and logic work side by side. After graduating, I found myself drawn more toward the creative and marketing side — branding, visuals, how a business tells its story online. That pivot is what brought Makepeace Web Design to life.

Empathy & Understanding
Every project begins with listening. In our first meetings, I take the time to understand your business, audience, and goals before moving into design and development.
Growth & Continuous Learning
Each project is an opportunity to deeply understand your business, industry, and customers. Uncovering what truly makes your brand unique.
Clear Communication & Honesty
Great results and clear business direction come from strong communication. I prioritize collaboration and alignment to ensure every project moves forward with clarity and purpose.
